Let's See...

Wednesday, September 9th - Went to practice at Brack, but knew I wouldn't be there a long time. The weather was looking bad and the coach was worried about lightning. We just went up to St. Mary's and back. Was not too disappointed. I really wanted to go home. I just started working the after school program. The three additional hours to the work day wipes me out.

Saturday, September 12th - Got up at 4am to make it to the HEB on Basse by 530 for a safety meeting. Some of the TEAM will be asking for donations at busy intersections of town in the next few weeks. We received some important safety information, a stylish orange vest, and a sign. I am all set. :0) The amazing thing about this past Saturday is that it was pouring down and we were still there standing in the rain with our umbrellas. (I need to buy a light rain jacket. )Anyway the TEAM meeting started about 6am and the rain dropped to a drizzle. (Thank God) We took off about 630am. I walked with Roni and we did pretty good. We averaged 4 miles per hour. Then we turned around at Trinity and I kind of slowed down and once again Roni got a burst of energy and took off. Rhonda, Marissa and Jennifer walked/ran with us in different sections of the last 8 miles. Marissa was with me when my feet gave out. I guess it was around 12 that I started to feel tired. Around 13 my feet were barely moving. They felt numb, warm and instead of shoes I felt like I had cardboard strapped to my feet. I couldn't wait to get to the last water stop at 14 miles. I wanted to go on, to just push through. However, my feet had other ideas. I waited at the water stop with the coaches and Elena to see if I would feel better, but I didn't. When Rhonda asked if I wanted to stop. I had the biggest lump in my throat and felt like I was about to cry. I really wanted to finish, but I needed to stop. She said it was better to stop than to injure myself so close to the marathon. Roni finished YAY! Let's see what happens in New Braunfels this weekend the mileage is 18.

Sunday, September 13th - Went to the Sam's Club at 410 and Summit with Tom. We did well. Made about $500. Highlights of the day. Ms. Awesome who quickly gave a $20 donation. Andrew the cute cart boy working at Sam's who lost his wallet. Little boy who tried to take Tom's medals, threw a bottle cap at me and a dirty used cigarette at Tom. Oh yeah and he was mocking us in Spanish. Pretty eventful.
